Body movement and rhythmic dance is a natural human behavior in most of the world. Unfortunately, not all religious leaders see it that way. A 1975 Vatican advisory, “Dance in the Liturgy,” acknowledged that some non-Western cultures still retain liturgical dancing and may therefore be appropriate, but not so in the West. Join us for an experience for everyone to explore the seasonal beauty found on the monastery grounds in spring. Experienced tour guides will share the story of Caring for the Earth and help participants deepen their relationship with this land. Meet at the kiosk in the monastery building parking lot. Tours will last 1-2 hours. We will proceed with the tour in the event of light to moderate rain but cancel for thunderstorms or other severe weather. Explore nature’s beauty and surprises! Kids on the Prairie (KOTP) is for children and their adult family members. Experienced volunteer educators and guides will facilitate a short hike to learn about nature and explore the grounds and trails. This free event is open to members of Holy Wisdom communities and the general public. May 18 – Birds and Binoculars Families will have an opportunity to watch birds, move like a Sandhill Crane, and peek in on a Bluebird nest. We’ll have kid friendly binoculars for kids to try.
